Does The Screwtape Letters seem unsettling and unnerving? I mean when I read through it I couldn't help but feel this great pessimism overrun me. It seems that the slogan is right, the road to hell is broad and wide while the road to heaven is narrow. How often do our minds do the deceiving and lead us away from God, even when we are totally ignorant of this? I guess this is when we throw up our hands and say, "You know what, God you have me! Nothing I can do can bring me closer to you! I need you to intervene daily and pour your grace on me continually!"
